Interior vs Exterior Window Cleaning: What Omaha Homeowners Actually Need

Most Omaha homeowners need the outside of their windows cleaned two to four times a year and the inside once. Exterior glass takes the pollen, sprinkler spots, dust and storms. Interior glass mostly collects fingerprints, pet nose prints and a slow film from cooking and heating. With Fontenelle, exterior only is $7 per pane and inside and out is $11 per pane, so the choice is worth making on purpose.

Interior vs Exterior Window Cleaning: What Omaha Homeowners Actually Need

Here is what each service covers, how fast each side of the glass gets dirty in Omaha and Bellevue, and a simple way to decide which one to book.

What exterior cleaning covers

Exterior only means every pane on the outside of the house gets our four step process: wet, scrub, squeegee, detail. Frames and exterior sills are wiped so nothing drips.

It handles the buildup that makes windows look dirty from the street and from the couch:

  • Spring pollen film
  • Hard water spots from sprinklers
  • Dust, rain streaks and storm residue
  • Bug marks, bird droppings and cobwebs
  • Road grime on lower windows

You do not need to be home. Unlock the gate and we text you when it is done.

What inside and out covers

Inside and out adds the interior side of every pane, plus three things people forget about until they see them clean:

  • Screens. Removed, washed and reinstalled. Pollen packed screens are a big reason rooms look dim.
  • Sills. Wiped down inside and out.
  • Tracks. The channels where dead bugs and grit collect, vacuumed and wiped.

Someone needs to be home to let us in. We work room by room, protect your floors, and move small items off sills if you have not already.

Why the outside gets dirty so much faster

Outside glass lives in the weather. In Omaha that means oak and cottonwood pollen in May, sprinklers all summer, thunderstorms that leave dust streaks when they dry, and salt spray in winter.

Inside glass is protected. It picks up smudges near door handles, a haze from cooking oils and furnace air, and condensation marks in winter. That takes a year to become noticeable in most homes.

The difference is why we recommend an uneven schedule instead of doing both every time.

What most Omaha homes actually need

For a typical house, the pattern that keeps windows looking clean all year for the least money is:

  1. Late spring or early summer: exterior only, after pollen settles
  2. Fall: inside and out, before you shut the windows for winter
  3. Optional mid summer: exterior only if sprinklers or dust hit the glass

On a 44 pane two story that is $308 in June and $484 in October, or $792 for the year. Doing inside and out both times would be $968 for interior glass that was still clean.

When to choose inside and out

Book both sides when any of these apply:

  • It has been more than a year since the inside was done
  • You are listing the house. Buyers notice glass and light immediately
  • You just moved in or finished a renovation. Construction dust gets everywhere
  • Dogs or kids use the sliding door as a window
  • Screens look yellow, fuzzy or bent
  • You have allergies and want the pollen out of the screens and tracks

When exterior only is enough

  • The inside was cleaned within the last year
  • You are between visits on a membership plan
  • You want the house looking good for a party or listing photos and the inside is fine
  • Nobody will be home during the day

Can you mix and match?

Yes. Some homeowners do inside and out on the main floor where they live and exterior only on bedrooms upstairs. Others do exterior everywhere plus inside on the big picture window and patio door. Tell us what you want and we will quote it that way.

What about a membership?

Our membership program works with either service. A common setup is quarterly exterior with one visit a year upgraded to inside and out. Members save 15% to 30% on every visit, get priority scheduling, and hard water removal is included.

FAQ

Is interior window cleaning worth the extra $4 per pane?

Once a year, yes. Screens and tracks are quoted separately, and worth adding: clean screens make as much difference to light as clean glass. More often than once a year is usually unnecessary in Omaha homes.

Do you clean screens with exterior only service?

Screens are part of inside and out service because they are removed from the inside. If you want screens with exterior only, ask when you request a quote.

How long does inside and out take?

Two to three hours for most homes, with a two person crew. We give you a time estimate when you book so you know how long to plan for.

Do I need to move furniture?

Only small items on sills and anything blocking a window. We handle blinds and curtains carefully. Our prep checklist covers everything.

Bottom line

Clean the outside two to four times a year and the inside once, usually in fall. That keeps Omaha and Bellevue homes looking clear year round without paying for interior glass that is already clean. Not sure which to book? Request a free quote and we will recommend the right mix for your house.
